Privacy Protection Tools Every Webcam Model Should Use

You work with your camera on. That means every login, file transfer, and chat leaves traces. Start with these five tools and put them in place this week.

Start with a no-logs VPN

A VPN hides your real IP from viewers and platforms. Pick one that keeps no activity logs and has servers in at least two countries you actually use.

  • Mullvad: pay with cash or Monero, no account needed.
  • Proton VPN: paid plan includes port forwarding for stable streams.

Test the kill switch before your next show. If the VPN drops, the connection must cut so nothing leaks.

Store logins in a password manager

Never reuse the same password across your streaming sites, email, and payment accounts. A manager creates and fills strong ones for you.

  1. Install Bitwarden or KeePassXC on your main computer and phone.
  2. Turn on the browser extension so it autofills only on the correct domains.
  3. Export your current passwords, then delete them from any browser saved list.

Turn on two-factor authentication on every account

SMS codes can be intercepted. Use an app instead.

Account type App to use Backup method
Streaming platform Authy or Aegis Print recovery codes
Email Authy or Aegis Save codes in manager
Payment processor Built-in app if offered Keep hardware key as backup

Add browser extensions that block trackers

Run these three on a separate profile you only use for work.

  • uBlock Origin: blocks most ads and tracking scripts.
  • Privacy Badger: stops invisible trackers that follow you across sites.
  • ClearURLs: removes tracking parameters from links you click.

Keep your regular browser clean for personal use so work cookies stay isolated.

Encrypt files before you send or store them

Photos, payout statements, and chat logs should never sit unencrypted on a drive or cloud folder.

  1. Install VeraCrypt and create an encrypted container on your external drive.
  2. Use Cryptomator if you upload to Google Drive or Dropbox. It encrypts files before they leave your computer.
  3. Share one-off files through OnionShare instead of email attachments.
